The End of an Era

After over 6 years of intensive research and community development work in and around the Yachana Reserve, GVI Amazon is coming to a close. We have finished our final research project (look forward to our Road Effects paper, coming soon!) and are handing over the project to our partner, The Yachana Foundation. They will continue to maintain and monitor the reserve, using it as an hands-on science education center for students -- we're very excited to see what fabulous things this next generation of scientists find! For more detail on GVI Amazon's closure, and our accomplishments over the years, please read on...

...and we're done!!!

The verdict is still out while the judges study GPS distances, photo-proof of challenges completed and other aspects of the 24-Hour Survey Challenge, but while we await the final word on the winner, we'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the possibly the hardest-working team of all -- the GVI Amazon Expedition Rangers! The ranger team and their staff members worked tirelessly throughout the 24 hours of the Challenge to provide ground support, hydration, first aid, and every manner of safety & backup possible to our competitors as they trekked all day and night through the reserve.

Take a look at this good-lookin' crew!

THANK YOU RANGERS -- WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!!

You can still donate to support our fundraiser to buy a water pump for the Rio Bueno school!
