The End of an Era

After over 6 years of intensive research and community development work in and around the Yachana Reserve, GVI Amazon is coming to a close. We have finished our final research project (look forward to our Road Effects paper, coming soon!) and are handing over the project to our partner, The Yachana Foundation. They will continue to maintain and monitor the reserve, using it as an hands-on science education center for students -- we're very excited to see what fabulous things this next generation of scientists find! For more detail on GVI Amazon's closure, and our accomplishments over the years, please read on...

WE DID IT!!!

The first-ever GVI Amazon 24-Hour Survey Challenge was a vast success! Thanks to all of our friends, family and supporters, we surpassed our goal, raising £500 online and additional cash donations on base from the participants themselves!

We are so pleased to be able to provide the community of Rio Bueno with the much-needed pump for their school, and look forward to sharing with all of you, our loyal blog followers, when the pump is purchased & given to the community!

A HUGE thank you to all of you who donated and supported GVI Amazon in our fundraising challenge, and a massive round of applause to the incredible team of staff, interns and volunteers who made the challenge happen -- well done, all!

Some fun pics below of various moments of insanity during this crazy challenge event!
