The End of an Era

After over 6 years of intensive research and community development work in and around the Yachana Reserve, GVI Amazon is coming to a close. We have finished our final research project (look forward to our Road Effects paper, coming soon!) and are handing over the project to our partner, The Yachana Foundation. They will continue to maintain and monitor the reserve, using it as an hands-on science education center for students -- we're very excited to see what fabulous things this next generation of scientists find! For more detail on GVI Amazon's closure, and our accomplishments over the years, please read on...

...And they're off!

What are those hunchbacks doing in the rain, you ask!? They are about to embark on one of the most extreme adventures of their life for the Huaorani Jungle Challenge. At 5am on Friday, these volunteers chowed down on some porridge, put on their giant packs, braved the rain, and headed out to the canoe for their first leg of the trip. Thanks to the incredible donations we have received, the volunteers are able to experience this amazing trip to the Huaorani communities and we are able to provide these local projects with incredible science and education supplies.

Another huge huge thanks to all the donors, the volunteers will come back with some incredible stories which we will be sure to share. We are still accepting donations as the projects we support are ongoing, for more information see here:

¡Buen viaje!
