The End of an Era

After over 6 years of intensive research and community development work in and around the Yachana Reserve, GVI Amazon is coming to a close. We have finished our final research project (look forward to our Road Effects paper, coming soon!) and are handing over the project to our partner, The Yachana Foundation. They will continue to maintain and monitor the reserve, using it as an hands-on science education center for students -- we're very excited to see what fabulous things this next generation of scientists find! For more detail on GVI Amazon's closure, and our accomplishments over the years, please read on...

Jungle Challenge is TOMORROW -- it's prep time!

We have a busy day in store for us today as we check kit, prepare food, and do some final packing for the first ever GVI Amazon multi-day Charitable Trust challenge tomorrow! It’s all hands on deck to ensure we’ve got everything we need, and there’s definitely an air of excitement around camp as everyone is speculating on the animals we might see and whether we survive the gruelling first day of hiking. So as the anticipation builds, the preparations continue!

For those of you who don't know about our Huaorani Jungle Challenge, and for everyone who wants to help support education for rural schools in the Amazon, please check out the following link, where you'll find all the details about this amazing adventure, why we're doing it and how YOU can donate for much-needed science and educational materials for students!
